We came across an inspiring TED talk by Julie Burstein. Burnstein is the best-selling author of a great book titled: “Spark: How Creativity Works”. In her TED talk, she examines four lessons in creativity:

1. Experience: We must pay attention to our surroundings – the world around us. We must embrace experience, which is “hard to do when we have a lighted rectangle in our pocket that takes all our focus.”

2. Challenge: Some of your best B2B marketing campaigns will come out of the parts of your key learnings. As hard as it is, we must embrace challenge and change in our lives. Great marketing work comes from hardship.

3. Limitation: Burstein believes we need to push and break the limits of what we can and can’t do. This will help us find our customer’s voice within our B2B marketing campaigns. Standing in your truth – this is powerful.

4. Loss: Finally, we must allow ourselves to experience loss – “the most constant of human embraces.” This allows a degree of hurt, rejection and failure. But what then can generate as a result can be the outcome of genius in your B2B marketing campaigns.

Creativity is essential to all of us. We all need “creativity” to flourish.
